Karim Mawji, CFA
Chief Investment Officer
Karim Mawji is the Founder of Eagle Talon Partners, an investment firm built around one core belief: the success or failure of a company often hinges on who’s leading it. By combining deep diligence on executives and boards with fundamental bottom-up research on companies, the firm’s investment process uncovers patterns in leadership behavior that often signal major inflections before the market catches on. Eagle Talon’s leadership-focused investment strategies go long companies led by value creators — and short or avoid those led by value destroyers.
Over a career spanning three decades, Karim has developed deep expertise in CEO transitions and governance. In addition to his decades of experience as a hedge fund manager, he founded a financial technology company that advises 80+ of the top hedge funds on CEO investment insights and was an M&A/Restructuring advisor. His current work is the product of decades spent analyzing companies through a unique governance lens. He understands that leadership isn’t just a headline — it’s a measurable force that can be assessed and acted upon.
Karim received a BA in History from the University of Western Ontario and earned an MBA degree from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in Canada and is a CFA Charterholder.
He and his wife, Betty, are based in Naples, Florida, after living in New York City for over 20 years. They are both active members of their community, and Karim serves on the Board of Directors of the Parkinson's Association of Southwest Florida (PASWFL). When not building businesses or investing in companies, you can find him with his family and on a yoga mat, pickleball courts, and squash courts in Naples, FL, and Manhattan, NY, and in the mountains of Mont Tremblant, Quebec.
